Junior High Region Music

Both 7th and 8th grade students are available to auditioning for region. The region audition process is much the chair tests that we complete in class, but the competition is across all of the participating Junior High band students in our region! This means that our students will have the opportunity to compete, not just against their fellow classmates, but students of their instrument from other schools!

Junior High Band Course Descriptions:

6th Grade Beginning Band

7th Grade Band

The beginner band is a year long course that meets every day. Students do not need any prior musical or instrumental knowledge to sign up for band! Following instrument placement, students will either be placed onto a brass instrument, woodwind instrument, or on percussion. For most of the year, students will be divided by their specification for as much individual attention and development as possible. Brass and percussion will be taught by Mr. Torch and woodwinds will be taught by Ms. O'Sullivan.

The 7th grade band is a year long course that meets every day.  Students will continue to develop their individual instrumental skills as well as their ensemble skills. This ensemble is under the direction of all three directors.

8th Grade Band

​The 8th grade band is a year long course that meets every day.  Students will continue to develop their individual instrumental skills as well as their ensemble skills. The 8th grade band will take part in an audition at the end of the Fall semester to determine their band placement. Both bands are a combination of both 8th Grade and High School students.
